US pharmaceutical company Moderna announced that the results of the corona virus vaccine, which was tested in the last stage of 30 thousand people, will be announced very soon.
However, the company said they are currently preparing to launch the vaccine, which they call “mRNA-1273.”
However, the company did not give a clear timeline for the disclosure of data from the final-stage trials, but said it would receive early data in the coming weeks, depending on the number of infections seen in volunteers.
Moderna, along with major drugmakers such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer/Biontech, AstraZenaca, SinoVac, are among the few companies that continue to conduct end-stage clinical trials for the vaccine.
“2021 WILL BE A TURNING POINT IN MODERNA’S HISTORY”
“I believe that when we launch our vaccine, 2021 will be a major turning point in Moderna’s history,” Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel said in a statement on the issue.
Meanwhile, Moderna announced a total of $ 1.1 billion in payment waste under its supply agreements with the United States, the United Kingdom and European countries. The company is expected to produce approximately 100 million doses of the vaccine.
ABOUT MODERNA’S VACCINE
A vaccine called “mRNA-1273”, developed by the US pharmaceutical giant Moderna, is currently being tested in more than 30 thousand people. The vaccine is expected to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) later this year.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The potential RNA-based vaccine aims to provide immunity in the body by suppressing an enzyme called “nail protein,” which allows Covid-19 to cling to a human cell. After FDA approval, phase one clinical trials began in Washington state on March 17, mRNA-1273 became the first Covid-19 vaccine candidate to be tested on humans.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The U.S. ordered 100 million doses of the vaccine from Moderna for $ 1.5 billion. This means that a vaccine costs about $ 32 (about 240 Turkish lira).
